With more and more designers added to the schedules each year, it’s not easy keeping up with all of the offerings on the runways. We’ll save you the time as we present you with our favorite looks from Fashion Month. These are the looks we love most for Fall/Winter 2017-18 and we must admit – the near future is as chic as ever.
Here’s a slew of styles you’ll adore from the shows and presentations in New York, London and Milan.
We saw a lot of feminine power silhouettes sprinkled throughout runways from the U.S. to Europe. The assortment included gorgeous power looks for day or night and work or play in a dazzling array of colors, textures and fabrics. Specifically on the runways of Milan, we saw a number of playfully voluminous yet sophisticated silhouettes feature a brilliant fusion of modern and retro styles.
We’re especially impressed by the looks that give you the most wear. For example, oversized blazers were everywhere. This is a look that can dress you for the upcoming colder seasons and beyond because it’s so classic and it gives a wonderful vintage appeal. A lot of the great blazers we saw (such as from the likes of R13 and Victoria Beckham) can be styled to give you an office-appropriate look with elevated interest. It’s a perfect direction for more creative professions. They can also be dressed down with miniskirts, jeans or even sneakers for an alluring yet effortless off-duty style.
As a bonus, incorporate the new shoulder pads for a look that really speaks volumes. And speaking of shoulders, designers will continue to offer us interesting shoulder construction in everything from daytime knits to formal dresses.
Midi Skirts for Fall
Later this year, we’ll see midi skirts surface with a strong presence to the delight of women of more modest tastes and those dreading potential pants-locked seasons ahead. Dress comfortably, feminine and free with flowing skirts in sumptuous fabrics that can easily be layered with tights, hose or even pants underneath. Wear them with heels, boots or even athletic shoes – if you dare.
Rich Colors and Patterns
For those of us who have fallen head over heels for the color-filled, texture-laden, mixed fabric looks at Alessandro Michele’s Gucci, you’ll be happy to know this style story is still holding strong. After dressing way too casual for much too long, we’ve embraced standing out from the crowd with unique, creative and dynamic style choices. The next trend to add to this movement are pieces designed with the beautiful floral embroidery of traditional Russian fashion. We’re seeing really opulent outerwear and tailored suits alike in this trend from designers including Derek Lam and Kate Spade New York.
Velvet continues to hold on strong with a prevalence of even richer, royal tones, plenty of thoughtfully-printed selections and attention-commanding maxi dresses for night. Vintage-inspired plaids will be strong for outerwear and tailored separates. We also saw all sorts of florals appear across the most diverse selections of designs. Solid color designs featuring bright primary or secondary colors will also have their moment – with a special focus on the color RED.
The Best Menswear Trends
For the gentlemen, some of our favorite looks for Fall/Winter include long, easy-to-wear coats that conveniently drape with haphazard perfection – even over layers and layers of clothes. There was also a good dose of corduroy, and – finally – many more options for menswear velvet looks.
Paris Fashion Week debuts today; we can’t wait to see what gorgeous creations await!
